Manager/ Assistant Manager, Compliance Incident Management

Role Overview:

 

Responsible for the end-to-end management of non-compliance incidents and compliance findings, from identification and assessment through remediation, escalation and closure. The role supports the Compliance Advisory function in regulatory change management, market conduct monitoring, compliance projects and proactive business engagement, helping to ensure that compliance risks are identified, addressed and reported in a timely and effective manner.

 

 

Key Accountabilities

 

• Manage non-compliance incidents and compliance findings end-to-end, including Potential Shariah Non-Compliance (SNC) and Actual SNC matters, intake, assessment, classification, root-cause analysis, action planning, escalation, monitoring, validation and closure.

• Maintain complete, accurate and timely records of incidents, findings, remediation actions, supporting evidence and closure decisions in the relevant compliance systems and registers.

• Conduct quality reviews and challenge incident assessments, root causes, impact evaluations and remediation plans to ensure they are clear, proportionate and sustainable.

• Monitor remediation progress, follow up with action owners and escalate overdue, recurring or material matters in accordance with the applicable governance and escalation requirements.

• Identify themes, trends and systemic issues arising from incidents and findings, and recommend improvements to policies, processes, controls, training or governance arrangements.

• Prepare management information, dashboards and reports on incident and finding status, ageing, trends, root causes and remediation progress for management, governance committees, the Board and Regional/Group Compliance, where required.

• Support regulatory change management by assessing regulatory developments, coordinating applicability and impact assessments, tracking implementation actions and maintaining appropriate evidence of completion.

• Support market conduct monitoring activities, including thematic advisory validation, product material reviews, and engagement with business functions on customer-facing conduct matters.

• Support Shariah Compliance activities, including providing advisory and support to the Shariah Committee to facilitate the effective execution of its role, and ensuring timely escalation and closure of Shariah Compliance matters.

• Provide practical compliance advice and guidance to business units on incident management, regulatory requirements, market conduct matters, projects and business initiatives.

• Participate in compliance projects and continuous improvement initiatives, including enhancement of incident management processes, reporting, data quality, governance and supporting systems.

• Promote timely self-identification and transparent reporting of non-compliance matters through business engagement, communications, guidance and awareness activities.

• Collaborate with Legal, Risk, Internal Audit, Operations, Distribution, Technology and other relevant stakeholders to ensure coordinated assessment and resolution of compliance matters.

• Support regulatory enquiries, internal reviews and assurance activities by providing accurate records, analysis and status updates relating to incidents and findings.

• Perform any other duties or responsibilities assigned by the supervisor to support departmental objectives and ongoing regulatory compliance.

 

 

Requirements

 

• Bachelor’s degree in Law, Business, Finance, Risk Management or a related discipline.

• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in compliance, risk management, internal audit, assurance, incident management or a related control function. Candidates considered at Manager level should demonstrate appropriate depth of experience and the ability to lead complex or material matters independently.

• Solid understanding of Malaysian insurance and/or takaful laws and regulations, compliance risk management practices and market conduct expectations.

• Experience in managing incidents, findings, remediation actions, root-cause analysis, governance reporting or regulatory change will be an advantage.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess issues, identify underlying causes and formulate practical, risk-based recommendations.

• Strong stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to provide constructive challenge, influence action owners and engage effectively with senior stakeholders.

• Good project management and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and drive actions to timely closure.

• Excellent written and spoken communication skills in English and the local language, with strong report-writing and presentation capabilities.

• Proactive, detail-oriented and self-motivated, with a strong sense of ownership, integrity and sound judgement.

• Possession of relevant compliance, risk, audit or financial crime certifications will be an added advantage.
